Outline Major Updates Key Meetings, Events & Queries (Activity Tracker) Quarterly Report – Snap Shot Key Draft Standards Under Wide Circulation

Major Updates Generic: Government mandates Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for import of electronics and IT goods Government unveiled Draft National E-commerce policy aims to create a framework for achieving holistic growth of the e-commerce sector along with existing policies of Make in India and Digital India. Cabinet approves proposal to align with global trademark system Smart Cities: Government allocated INR 6,600 crore (€825 million) for the Smart Cities Mission for 2019-20, which is about 7% more as compared to INR 6,169 crore (about €770 million) for 2018-19. Electrical Equipment incl. Consumer Electronics: Union Cabinet approved new National Electronics Policy (NEP) 2019, which replaces NEP 2012 Cabinet approved measures to promote Hydro Power Sector Automotive: Government approved 2nd phase of FAME India scheme with total outlay of Rs. 10,000 Crores (about €1.25 billion) over the period of three years (i.e. from 2019-20 to 2021-22). Government approved the proposal for setting up a national mission on transformative mobility and battery storage, to drive clean, connected, shared, sustainable and holistic mobility initiatives ICT: Union Cabinet approved the National Policy on Software Products 2019 aiming to develop India as the global Software Product hub. Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC) has been asked to finalize standards for IoT/M2M as the country aspires to roll out 5G services at par with the rest of the world

Conference call of the Electronics & IT - LITD 28 committee of the BIS on Active Assisted Living, to discuss and review the draft report on AAL paradigm. SESEI is promoting adoption of EN 301 549 in India. Meeting with CDOT officer and Chairman of BIS Smart City committee Chair to discuss the oneM2M Common Service Layer as a BIS Standard Meetings with DoT and other Government Bodies: Meeting with DDG of TEC, responsible for the subject of Green Telecom/Passport Program to discuss, status updates on Green Telecom in Europe. TEC Meeting for discussion on M2M/ IoT specifications of oneM2M as a National Standards 1st meeting of the Committee on Accessibility Standards for IT hardware & software to discuss and create a roadmap for accessibility standards for IT hardware & software and adoption of EN 301549.

Key Meetings 2 (3) Meetings with EU delegates, EU project officers & officials from EU delegation in India: Meeting with officer from Eurovent Certita Certification President to discuss the Indian scenario on testing and certification and assured to work with them to align the EN Standards as part of BIS Standard on HVAC. Meeting with Mr. Philip Grinsted, Advisor (Conformity Assessment & Accreditation), Global Project Quality Infrastructure - India, GIZ to discuss the priorities and activities of GIZ Project on Quality Infrastructure and project SESEI to identify possible areas of mutual interest and potential synergies. Meeting with Trade Counsellor of EU Delegation to India to discuss M2M+IoT forum, MTCTE framework of TEC & Security Workshop etc. Meeting with BSI to discuss status update around Cyber Security, Smart Cities, Consumer Protection, CITD Project and International Project, ITS & e-Mobility and Conformity assessment Meetings with Industry & Associations: Various meetings for the IoT India Congress 2019 preparation as SESEI will be chairing the session on Standards, Legal & Regulatory at the IoT Congress 2019. Meeting with Head Regulatory Telenor to discuss Data Privacy Act, e-Commerce Policy in India Meeting with Officer of m2m+iot forum to discuss concept for the next m2m+iot forum to be held later in 2019. Conference call between ETSI & CDOT to discuss the proposed workshop and tutorial around oneM2M in collaboration with EU-INDIA ICT Project on Standards Follow-up meeting on MCA ropeways organized by NITI Aayog. A detailed document was prepared by SESEI on the gaps identified in the BIS standards vis a vis the CEN standards

Key Meetings 3 (3) Meetings with Project Partners: Various catch up calls with Project Manager, CEN CENELEC to review the Project SESEI activities. Conference call meeting with Chair Smart Energy Group (SEG) to coordinate for making a presentation at the India Smart Utility Week on behalf of CEN CENELEC SESEI project review meeting with DG CEN CENELEC, during the meeting SESEI shared the achievements of SESEI 3 Steering Committee Meeting No. SC #9: held on 19th February 2019 at CCMC office, Brussels Meeting with CEN CLC Program Manager responsible for Automotive, Cable Ways to discuss the current state of Play on Standard around ITS and e-Mobility. SESEI also shared updates from India around ITS, e-Mobility Meeting with CEN CLC Program Manager responsible for Digital Transformation & AI: shared the latest status of 4 project identified as part of Strategy towards Digital transformation. Meeting with CEN CLC Program Manager responsible for e-Accessibility to discuss the latest update on e- Accessibility and design for all. SESEI also shared update on EN 301 549 adoption status in India. Meeting of CEN CLC Task Force India. SESEI joined the meeting for the Task Force, India and is supporting its objective and scope in India with BIS. Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has released a draft National E- commerce Policy with aims to create a framework for achieving holistic growth of the e-commerce sector Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued the list of BIS standards applicable for components of solar PV applications. Cabinet approves proposal for accession of India to (a) The Nice Agreement, (b) The Vienna Agreement, (c) The Locarno Agreement BIS launches facility to view Indian Standards online free of cost, which are listed in various Quality Control orders as mandatory Department of Telecommunication (DoT has issued a Memorandum easing import norms for prototype, sample products and test and measurement equipment in license-exempt bands without the need of ‘equipment type approval (ETA)’. Project SESEI drafted and released a sectorial report on Indian Electrical Equipment including Consumer Electronics sector covering sector profile, Industry trends & projections, key market players, new government policies and initiatives and standardization work. => Report & Presentation Government of India has approved a slew of measures including declaration of Large Hydropower Projects (HPO) as part of non-solar Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO). Office Memorandums (OMs)/Notifications: Government of India Guidelines for Procurement of aggregated Power of 2500 MW under Pilot Scheme-II for three years (covered under Medium Term). Notification for Quality Control Order on SPV Goods 2017. Modifications in Scheme for “Development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Park Scheme. Quarterly Report: Snap Shot 3 (4) Automotive: Government approved 2nd phase of FAME India scheme with total outlay of Rs. 10,000 Crores (about €1.25 billion) over the period of three years (i.e. from 2019-20 to 2021-22).
