REGULAR VERBS VERBES RÉGULIERS LES VERBES EN -ER REGULAR VERBS VERBES RÉGULIERS

Réguliers? What is that? A verb is regular when it follows the same pattern as other verbs in the same group. It means that all verbs in that group (here the -er group) are conjugating the SAME WAY!

Pattern? What pattern? In order to conjugate an -er verb (any regular -er verb), you follow two steps: Get the stem Add the ending

STEM/ROOT OF THE VERB To get the stem or root of the verb, you remove the -ER at the end CHANTER -> CHANT = STEM (to sing) ÉTUDIER -> ÉTUDI = STEM (to study)

CONJUGATION - CONJUGAISON Each pronoun is associated with a different ending, but the stem does not change Pronouns? Did you say pronouns?

PRONOUNS!!! JE = I NOUS = WE TU = YOU (singular VOUS = YOU (plural /informal) /formal) IL = HE ILS = THEY ELLE = SHE ELLES = THEY

Conjugons - Let’s conjugate JE CHANTE = I SING TU CHANTES = YOU SING IL CHANTE = HE/SHE SINGS NOUS CHANTONS = WE SING VOUS CHANTEZ = YOU SING ILS/ELLES CHANTENT = THEY SING

Conjugons - Let’s conjugate another verb J’ ETUDIE = I STUDY TU ETUDIES = YOU STUDY IL ETUDIE = HE/SHE STUDIES NOUS ETUDIONS = WE STUDY VOUS ETUDIEZ = YOU STUDY ILS/ELLES ETUDIENT = THEY STUDY Did you understand everything? Oui? Great! Non? Then start again!
