Community Mobility Zones Community Mobility Zones (CMZ) are areas that have historically had low fixed-route ridership RTS’ proposal introduces technology-rich, customized travel that will replace the use of 40- and 60-foot buses with smaller vehicles and expand service to customers in these areas CMZ service includes 3 modes: RTS Flex Service RTS On-Demand Service Personal Mobility On-Demand (PMOD)

RTS Flex Route Service What is it? Why it is Recommended for RTS? Small bus or van follows a consistent route with dedicated bus stops. The vehicle will flex/deviate from the route to destinations within ¾ mile of the route Operated by RTS w/ ADA accessible vehicles Similar to how RTS operates outside Monroe County Why it is Recommended for RTS? Flex route service provides improved access and flexibility Closer to curb-to-curb service for the customer More appropriate vehicle size for number of customers in each area

RTS On-Demand Service What is it? Why it is Recommended for RTS? Small bus, van or sedan used to provide on-demand service within zone boundaries, when requested Operated by RTS w/ ADA accessible vehicle Why it is Recommended for RTS? Curb-to-curb service provides improved access and near real-time travel Makes it easier to reach destinations in the zone while providing easy access to the larger bus system

Personal Mobility on Demand (PMOD) What is it? Provides on-demand, door-to-door transportation for individuals or small groups Service provided by a third-party (TNC, taxi, etc.) Fare can include fixed price and/or maximum RTS subsidy per ride Why is it Recommended for RTS? How important is it that we include this as part of the final recommendation? It is an option we are considering? Offers reliable transportation option in CMZs when RTS service is not running On-demand, curb-to-curb service provides access to transportation when needed during low-demand times of the day Provides expanded access to CMZ destinations and the larger bus system on weekdays and weekends

How to Get a Ride in the CMZs Customers will have multiple options to book their trips: Call the RTS Customer Service Center Online at myRTS.com The RTS Mobile App New mobile ticketing technology expected to launch in 2020

CMZs By Mode Type RTS Flex Route Service RTS On-Demand Service Brockport Webster Greece Henrietta Pittsford/Eastview Irondequoit Lexington Ave.

Each will connect to the fixed-route network at a Connection Hub Commuter Routes RTS will continue operating the same number of trips on the commuter routes. Each will connect to the fixed-route network at a Connection Hub

Proposed CMZ Fares RTS Flex Service RTS On-Demand PMOD From bus stop to bus stop………$1 For each flex request……………$1 per flex request RTS On-Demand Connect to or from an RTS bus stop………$1 Curb-to-curb within the zone……………….$3 PMOD RTS subsidizes up to $5 per ride: Customer pays the first $1 RTS pays up to the next $5 of the ride Customer pays any remaining cost Entire trip must stay within any one CMZ RTS will review overall cost and self-perform service if it becomes more cost effective
