ELA – Mrs. Fulton Reading – This week we start our new unit with a focus on informational text, emphasizing Main Idea and Details and Text Structure (how the text is organized). Here are some things to ask when you are reading with your child: What is the main idea of the passage or paragraph you just read, and how do you know it is the main idea? What details support the main idea? How is the whole passage organized? (cause/effect, sequence of events/time order, compare/contrast) How is the paragraph you just read organized? Language Arts -- We will continue our review of capitalization, complete sentences, compound/ complex sentences, common/proper nouns, tenses, possessives, contractions, and subject verb agreement.
