INTERDISCIPLINARY GRADUATE TRAINING IN CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT Department of Pediatrics INTERDISCIPLINARY GRADUATE TRAINING IN CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT THE PROGRAM: The Center on Child Abuse and Neglect (CCAN) in the Department of Pediatrics offers an 8 month Interdisciplinary Training Program in Child Abuse and Neglect (ITP) for advanced students in medicine, psychology, law, social work, dentistry, education, public health, sociology, nursing, and related disciplines. The ITP provides specialized training in administration, clinical practice, policy formulation, child advocacy, prevention, and research in the field of child abuse and neglect.   TRAINING FORMAT: The ITP is designed to provide advanced academic training in child abuse and neglect. Credit hours can be arranged through the student’s major department or school or through the Graduate College of OUHSC. The curriculum has didactic and clinical components. The academic year for the ITP is from August through April. The ITP seminars are held on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 7:30pm on the OUHSC campus in Oklahoma City. Students are required to attend weekly seminars, complete clinical practicum requirements, participate in a Mock Trial, and undertake a research project, policy analysis, or systems review. ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for the ITP, students must: be enrolled in a graduate or a postgraduate program, have sufficient background in their basic discipline to benefit from interdisciplinary training, evidence a career interest and commitment to the field of child abuse and neglect, and have the recommendation of their major advisor or department chair.
