What is numeracy? Numeracy is maths that is all around us. It is the maths that we use day to day. Research from Pro Bono Economics estimates that poor numeracy skills cost the economy £20.2 billion every year.

Key Aspects

How is numeracy covered in the curriculum? Numeracy outcomes are cross curricular and appear in most if not all subjects. We also teach all the numeracy outcomes in maths classes.

How can you help with numeracy? Be positive!

How can you help with numeracy? Ask your child to teach you!

How can you help with numeracy? Use the Numeracy Booklet to help your child with homework so they are seeing and using consistent approaches.

How can you help with numeracy? Times tables. Time and time management. Cooking, baking & building. Interpreting data and graphs. Sharing and portioning. Budgeting and buying. Thinking about likelihood and probability. Estimating the grocery shop. Playing games.
