Network of Inquisitive* Citizens *formerly “Sceptical” Allowing citizens a shared responsibility in the information collected about their city Stichting Peen en Ui: Jennefer Verbeek and Robbert van Strien info@peenenui.nl

Innovation Design approach Name of your initiative Innovation Please insert a picture here related to your initiative/solution Involving citizens in how data about their city is being collected; translating that data into attractive maps and other material. Creating an infrastructure in which citizens and policy makers can find each other. Design approach check equity access Creating accessible ways of gathering data, sensitising citizens in how data can be collected, and helping them translate data in graphic material that can get other citizens involved in discussions about the development of the city

Relation to the urbanscape Scaling up prospects Network of inquisitive citizens Relation to the urbanscape As a citizen, understanding your city environment is fundamental to your ability to be involved in the further development of your city. But knowledge collected about your city is often difficult to access, and the methods used to gather data are limited. Involving citizens in data collection will allow them a shared responsibility for the city. Designing how data is collected, and how it is translated into communication, is a vital aspect. Scaling up prospects We plan to develop not only a ‘citizens’ atlas’ of our city of operation, but also a methodology on how to create a network of inquisitive citizens in other cities.
