Glutathione and glutathione peroxidase in sputum samples of adult patients with cystic fibrosis  N Dauletbaev, K Viel, R Buhl, T.O.F Wagner, J Bargon  Journal of Cystic Fibrosis  Volume 3, Issue 2, Pages 119-124 (June 2004) DOI: 10.1016/j.jcf.2004.03.005

Fig. 1 Glutathione levels in sputum samples of healthy (H), asthmatic (A), and CF individuals. In healthy and asthmatic individuals, sputum was induced by inhalation of 3% NaCl. CF patients provided spontaneous (CF spont.) and samples induced by 3% NaCl (CF ind.). The main graphic represents data of sputum total glutathione shown as individual values, median, and 25–75 percentiles. The smaller graphic shows median (25–75 percentiles) levels of sputum GSH expressed as percentage of total glutathione. Both total glutathione and GSH levels in CF sputum samples are significantly (p<0.001) higher than the levels in non-CF samples.
