Being Active Against Oppression A New Vision? Being Active Against Oppression

Changing Masculinity 1) Men learn to devalue the feminine; hence they learn to eschew nurturing, cooperation and intimacy. Further, they fear being associated with these characteristics. From where do boys learn the above values? How?

Changing Masculinity What behaviors do you perform that support “devaluing the feminine” Homophobic attitudes and behavior. Discounting nurturing as unskilled. Supporting men’s ideas that there are tasks more appropriate for “men” or “women?” Etc.

Changing Masculinity What other institutions support the ideas and how do they teach them?

Becoming an ALLY What is an ally? How can YOU become one? What does it mean to say we have multiple identities? So, if you want an ally for your “oppression” what should you do for others?

Becoming an ALLY Where should you confront oppression? HOW should you confront oppression?
