Using the ESRI Story Map Matt De Parsia Introduction to web GIS Fall 2016

Project goals Create a more interesting way to present USGS reports to the general public. This project will focus on making a story map that shows the results of a year long pesticide study in the Sacramento San-Joaquin Delta. Incorporate images and large interactive maps Make the product easy to navigate for users Show sample site location for current project and associated watersheds

Configuring the story map Example of one of the staging workspaces that I used to prepare layers before adding them to the story map Filtered sites and saved as new layers so that I can toggle them individually within the story map

Configuring the story map Workaround for not being able to use widgets in the map Clicking on one of the text link in the highlighted box toggles the corresponding watershed boundary and pop up

Conclusions The story maps look very professional but the templates offer limited functionality If I were going to implement my something similar for work I would probably build a website with embedded web maps or web map apps for additional customization from widgets.
