Mr. Vogel AP English III, English IV, Creative Writing Welcome! Mr. Vogel AP English III, English IV, Creative Writing

Writing and Speaking When we write and speak we are usually: Trying to get something we want (persuasive) Telling a story to entertain or send a message (reflective and narrative) Explaining a process (expository) Regardless, we have a message and an audience and we must be detailed and clear, so our message is received how we intend it!!

Persuade! Should Westmoore High School require uniforms? Should parents monitor teenagers’ internet use? Should gay marriage be legalized? Should steroids be allowed in professional sports? Are contact sports like football and MMA safe for children under 10?

Reflect and Narrate! Who is your best friend? Where was the last place you traveled out of state? Who in your life has impacted you? What is your favorite movie? What is your favorite band/musician?

Expose and Explain (expository writing) What was the last thing you built or created? What is something you have cooked by yourself? What hobbies do you have? Do you work? Where? When have you helped someone do something?

Writing! Due by the end of the hour Choose one of the questions you answered from any of the three categories. Expand your topic into a 5 paragraph essay. Remember Jim Gaffigan! Be detailed on your one topic. Be creative and use: Images Memories Things spoken
