Instructional Activities Wednesday, 4/24/19 Part IV: May 1930 Students will complete the chapter and answer the following questions: Comprehension Questions Directions: The following questions should be answered in complete sentences on a separate piece of paper. They will be completed as we read in class and with at home reading assignments. Comprehension Questions will be collected at the end of each section of the novel. 1. Why doesn’t Luvenia want to go to Curry with her family? 2. What might stand in the way of Luvenia getting into the University of Chicago, according to Miss. Etta? 3. Luvenia’s mother, Goldie, had always done the “right thing.” Do you think Luvenia is doing the right thing by trying to stay in Chicago? Why or why not? 4. In this section, students will get the opportunity to experience this process first hand by applying for a job at the company Ramtronics, Inc. Tasks will include: - Completing a job application, Job Application Form - Writing a cover letter: Cover Letter Form, Sample Letter 1, Sample Letter 2 - Creating a job advertisement poster: Job Ad Powerpoint, Sample Ad 1, Sample Ad 2 - Becoming part of a hiring committee and writing a letter of acceptance or rejection to a job applicant: Hiring Committee Form
