Summarising Aim is to reduce the key points of an article to the smallest number of words, without losing any of the key points made. Aim would be to reduce the length to maximum 40% of its original size Summarising your study notes will help you revise more effectively

How to summarise Using the text provided Read the text Highlight or underline the key words Write down the key points Don’t copy anything straight out without rewording it Keep it clear and simple

Comparing Aim is to summarise two or more articles and evaluate the differences between the arguments Your job is to point out the different viewpoints and the bias of each writer

How to Compare Read the different texts Highlight the key points Organise them so that you can see and compare similar points that are made You could summarise the key points of the two texts Compare similar points from each article together, a pair at a time Give your view on the articles and refer to the key points
