6th Grade Science Topics Earth and Space Sciences General science (tools, conversions, density, lab safety and reports, modeling, questioning) Weather (fronts, severe weather, water cycle) Geology (rocks, erosion, plate tectonics, earthquakes) Astronomy (solar system, gravity, earth-sun-moon system)

Science Conceptual Shifts (District wide) 1. Our K-12 science education reflects the interconnected nature of science as it is practiced and experienced in the real world (it’s all about inquiry!) 2. Concepts are built coherently from K-12 3. Deeper understanding of content as well as application of content 4. Science and Engineering practices are integrated 5. Designed to prepare students for college, career, and citizenship
