Eurasia More Study/Research & ETA applicants needed to all countries in Eurasia Most undersubscribed: Moldova S/R ETA candidates with Russian language skills may consider other countries besides Russia ETAs have supplementary projects Updated ‘20-’21 Could use more S/R & ETA applicants for almost all countries in Eurasia Most undersubscribed: Moldova – no applicants for 2017-18 and typically 1-3 applicants for 2 awards Russia S/R – fewer apps than in previous years, challenge is that there’s very limited grants for Moscow & St. Petersburg, and that’s where we see the most applications; in country summary, list of potential host affiliations outside of Moscow & St. Petersburg and research areas they offer ETA candidates w/Russian language skills may consider applying to other countries instead of Russia In recent years, numbers to Russia have declined so I don’t want to encourage candidates to consider applying to other countries in the region If passion for Russia, apply for Russia. But if already studied abroad in Russia and open to other locations, can consider other countries in the region, as Russian is helpful in other Eurasian countries ETAs supplementary project – expected to address in their statement of purpose Independent study/research project or other activity related to their personal, career, and/or educational interests. These projects should not conflict with assigned teaching and advising responsibilities.
