RESURRECTION & JUDGMENT

RESURRECTION AND JUDGMENT Make a special section in your Bible labelled "Resurrection/Judgment" and Bible mark it listing the key verses to support each section. Resurrection/Judgment a 1st Principle – 2Tim.2:17 Its importance – 1Cor.15:32 Who will be resurrected – Dan.12:2; 1Pet.4:3-5 Happens up Jesus return – 1Tim.4:1 Happens also at end of the Millennium – Rev.20:5,6,12

RESURRECTION AND JUDGMENT Why does the Apostle Paul say that if there be no resurrection from the dead we might as well spend our time eating and drinking? Without the resurrection there is no hope of living forever in the kingdom to come and the hope of going to heaven at death is a false hope. Do you spend more of your time on eating and drinking or on things connected with the Bible? For most it would be eating and drinking. This would show our priority is temporal things and is therefore a good exhortation for us.

RESURRECTION AND JUDGMENT 3. How could you use the doctrine of resurrection against going to heaven at death? 1Cor.15:32 says if there is no resurrection we might as well eat and drink for without it there is no hope beyond this life. This wouldn’t be so if at death one goes to heaven.

RESURRECTION AND JUDGMENT 4. What scriptures show man is different from the beasts that perish? Psalm 49:20 Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish. Psalm49:12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.

RESURRECTION AND JUDGMENT What makes man different from the "beasts that perish"? Being called, understanding, believing and obeying God’s marvellous plan of salvation. Matthew20:16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. Context – parable all given a penny Matthew22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen. Context – parable no wedding garment Mark16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

RESURRECTION AND JUDGMENT 6. There are three classes of people spoken of in Daniel 12:2. Which class are like the beasts that perish and what are the other two classes of people. Daniel12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. “many” also includes those who will not awake and are like the beasts that perish forever. The other two classes are those who awake to everlasting life and those who awake to suffer shame will die a second death. Revelation2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

RESURRECTION AND JUDGMENT 7. Give four passages that show those who know the revealed will of God, and have been called upon to submit to it, make man responsible to resurrection and judgment. 1 Pet. 4:3-5 John 12:48 Heb. 10:26 Rom. 2:12,16

RESURRECTION AND JUDGMENT 7. 1Peter4:3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 4 Wherein they (their friends who continued their old worldly life) think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: 5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. 7. John12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. “Last day” is the time of the resurrection and judgment upon Jesus’ return. John 11:24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

RESURRECTION AND JUDGMENT 8. Even if there was hope in the kingdom age for children who had died, why would scripture be silent in this area? The reason is that it would open the door of a second chance in the millennial age. This could cause people to not seek the kingdom first in this age. Matthew6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

RESURRECTION AND JUDGMENT 9. Does the resurrection and judgment come before or after Jesus returns as a thief? 1 Thessalonians4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Meeting the Lord in the air is when he comes as a thief to the world upon will be the resurrection and judgment. This happens after Jesus returns as a thief.

When will Resurection/Judgment happen ? 1. When Jesus comes as a thief (Rev. 16:15; Mt.24:43,1Th5:1-4) 2. Resurrection & judgment of the responsible (Dan.12:2; 1Thes.4:16) 3. Marriage of Christ/Saints (Rev.19:7,8; Mat.22:2; Song of Sol. 2:8-17) 4. The 6th vial (Armageddon) (Eze.38:1-23; Zech.14:1-15; Rev.16:16) 5. Jesus with the saints delivers Israel (Mt..24:27; 2Th.1:7-9) 6. Jesus upon the throne of David in Jerusalem (Luke 1:32; Isa.9:6,7) 7. The gospel is preached to the world (Rev.14:6; Rev.10:11; Joel 2:32) 8. Jesus seen by many as the Antichrist (Psa.2:2; Psa.48:2-6; Psa.83:3) 9. The 7th vial (7 Thunders) (Joel 3:13-16; Jer.25:15-33; Rev.19:15-21) 10 Millennial kingdom comes upon earth (Matt.6:10; Dan.2:44; Mic. 4:1) Cover by having them look at item #1 but kingdom doesn’t come until item 10
