Regarding the opening plenary session, was there a question you wanted to ask, but could not? [How can we create] broader plans for multidisciplinary education within CS, so that CS students are equipped to collaborate in heterogeneous teams? We are interested to start a new curriculum based [on an interdisciplinary approach] with CS throughout the curriculum. Is there any help out there to design such a curriculum? Do the professional societies have a role to play?

What new ideas did you get from the Summit? MSR research projects – sources of downloads, tools, resources DemoFest; Singularity; Spec#; Dan Ling’s presentation; Mobile devices work; Mesh Networking; etc. (research.microsoft.com) Invigorating computing courses, particularly at the intro level: Gaming (to present core CS concepts) Robotics (to present core CS concepts) Socially-relevant computing application development Tablet PC applications

What did you like best about the Summit; and, what would you like to see improved? There were lots of interesting sessions; But, “The biggest problem was deciding which one to attend.” There was a great breadth of subjects; But, give me more depth focused on my specific interest in: “________” There were good networking opportunities with MSR researchers and with colleagues; But, build in more time for attendees to attend informal BOF sessions.

Collectively, you are working on: Do you have a plan of action on your campus regarding the issues raised in the opening plenary session? If so, what? Collectively, you are working on: new attraction and retention programs. outreach programs to K-12 focused on encouraging engineering, science and mathematics curriculum in K-12. new curriculum tracks around computing and information systems (that have a broader scope than traditional computing science).
