Inferring Meaning Jeremy Pearl Jam

Meaning I think this song is about a bullied kid who kills himself in front of his class

Drawing pictures of mountain top, with him on top I think this means that “Jeremy” always felt as though he was at the bottom of the barrel at school and only in his imagination is he seen as popular and “on top” I’ve seen kids over the years wishing to be part of the cool crowd and change who they were to try and accomplish this. Some kids that are not able to do this and become very angry – they probably have fantasies where they are accepted by their peers.

Daddy didn't give attention to the fact that mommy didn't care I think that Jeremy’s whole world seems in shambles at school and at home. Not only does his mother not care about him, but his father doesn’t seem to notice. If this is his main support (which they seem to be) having them not care about his struggles would be devastating. Gordie Lachance, former students, friends – I’ve seen many people and the results of bad parenting or lack thereof….it is extremely damaging leaving especially kids, feeling alone with no guidance or comfort.

My jaw left hurting, dropped wide open Just like the day, like the day I heard I think that the bully’s jaw was open after he got hit as well as when he heard the news of Jeremy’s death. People are always shocked with the suicide of another person, especially a student. The bully must have felt especially shocked when it was someone he bullied.

Try to forget this, try to erase this, Jeremy spoke in class today Jeremy finally speaks to all his frustrations by killing himself. He wanted to be a part of something and be noticed, that this was the only way for him to be. I’ve read many books and seen some movies where the main character sees no way out from his world – Pump up the volume Kurt Cobain, Heathers, Long way down, Ernest Hemingway I have taken classes on depression and learned what to do in the event a student shows outward signs.

Conclusion The song Jeremy paints a very sad picture about a boy who is very troubled and angry over the way his life has turned out. He finds no comfort at school or at home so he sees his only exit as suicide. He does this in front of his class so he can be remembered for something, no longer invisible.
