Status report on the activities of TF-CS/OTA Overview on Task Force – Cyber Security, Data Protection and Over-the-Air issues Start of activity: 21 December 2017 (kickoff meeting at UK DfT, London) Co-Chair: Mr. Darren Handley (UK/DfT) Mr. Tetsuya Niikuni (Japan/NTSEL) Secretary: Mr. Jens Schenkenberger(OICA/Hyundai) Participants: Contracting Parties (AU, BE, CN, EC, EG*, FR, DE, JP, KR, NL, NO, RU*, ES, SE, CH, UK, US*) NGO (ITU, FIA, CITA, IRU*, ISO, SAE, OICA, CLEPA) Participation: Type approval and cyber security experts approx. 30 people per meeting * No active participation yet

Status report on the activities of TF-CS/OTA Cyber security: - Identify and consider key risks and threats: Threat analysis for all aspects (cyber security in general, data protection and software updates – incl. over the air updates) to be considered in one common approach Agree and define principles/objectives to mitigate cyber security risks Data protection: - Legal aspects of data protection are out of scope of TF-CS - Data protection issues related to technical security issues (within general threat assessment for cyber security)

Status report on the activities of TF-CS/OTA Software updates (incl. Over-the-Air issues): The group confirmed considering pre- and post registration software update issues The group agreed to look at how to perform post registration software updates, incl. responsibilities of stakeholders. Further consideration shall be given to the verification of the software status (configuration control) Security related issues of software updates are considered in the cyber security part
