Presentation transcript:

Class 2 All Dressed Up Communication, Language & Literacy As young readers and writers, we will use some exciting poetry and stories with a clothing theme and non-fiction books about clothes as our stimulus for developing our English skills. We will also continue to investigate long vowel sounds and blends in our spelling work, as well as common word endings. We will develop our use of capital letters and full stops, commas in a list along with other punctuation, as well as persevering with a consistent joined handwriting style. Mathematical Development Counting, Partitioning & Calculating Securing Number Facts & Understanding Shape Handling Data & Measures Calculating, Measuring & Understanding Shape Securing Number Facts, Relationships & Calculating Problem solving will be a theme that runs through all of the above areas and will have a clothing theme in as many areas as possible. Class 2 Knowledge & Understanding of the World As young scientists we will be learning about the uses of everyday materials as well as considering how and why different animals cover their bodies. We will develop our knowledge and understanding along with our investigative skills. As young historians we will be investigating and exploring different clothes worn in the past and even considering what we might wear in the future. Our Geography lessons will involve the exploration of traditional clothing from a selection of countries around the world. We develop our questioning skills and will consider when these clothes might be worn and why. R.E We will be exploring how clothes show how people belong to different religions and how people wear special clothes to express their faith. All Dressed Up Creative Development As young artists, we will be investigating repeating patterns not only in the Art world but also those in our everyday life such as on curtains and bathroom tiles as well as on some of our favourite clothes. We will consider the process involved in designing a tee-shirt. We will base some of our work on the story on Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat and investigate the best way to design and evaluate our work. We will also experiment with the different sorts of patterns we can make with musical instruments and hopefully create our own musical patterns that we can enjoy listening to! Physical Development For our physical development we will be exploring a range of movements in dance and developing these into short sequences. We will be practising and developing throwing and catching skills and continuing to practise swimming. ICT We will continue to practise logging on to our own desktops using our secret passwords and saving our work into our work folder. We will be learning how to edit work and create a title page for our class book. We will also be using one of our favourite programs- ‘2publish’ ,to design some underpants with a repeating pattern. We will use this program to create some clothes posters.
