Proposed A 5-Stage Process for WPP Testing Jan 2004 doc.: IEEE 802.11-02/xxxr0 March 2004 IEEE 802.11 WPP SG - Proposed A 5-Stage Process for WPP Testing Dong-Jye Shyy, Ph.D. djshyy@mitre.org MITRE Dong-Jye Shyy, MITRE

March 2004 Introduction It is a general consensus that WPP testing needs to be divided into stages or phases. This presentation proposes a five-stage process for performing WPP testing Dong-Jye Shyy, MITRE

March 2004 Stage 1 Characterize the performance between one AP and one client in a controlled lab environment The following questions need to be answered for each stage What performance metrics to collect? What testing equipments are needed and what are their configurations? How to collect the performance metrics, i.e., what are the testing steps? It must a repeatable process. Dong-Jye Shyy, MITRE

March 2004 Stage 2 Characterize the performance between one AP and multiple clients in a controlled lab environment Dong-Jye Shyy, MITRE

March 2004 Stage 3 Characterize the performance between multiple APs and one client in a controlled lab environment Dong-Jye Shyy, MITRE

March 2004 Stage 4 Characterize the performance between multiple APs and multiple clients in a controlled lab environment Dong-Jye Shyy, MITRE

March 2004 Stage 5 Characterize the performance between multiple APs and multiple clients in a real field environment Dong-Jye Shyy, MITRE

Not all Stages are Mandatory March 2004 Not all Stages are Mandatory Recommend that Stages 1 – 4 are mandatory and Stage 5 is optional Dong-Jye Shyy, MITRE

March 2004 Conclusion Proposed to include the proposed 5-stage process concept in the PAR for WPP Dong-Jye Shyy, MITRE
