Themes In Biology

1. Evolution Adaptations: favorable traits Phylogeny: evolutionary history

Reproduction and Inheritance Two types of reproduction: Asexual: No genetic information is exchanged. Sexual: Genetic information is exchanged.

Development Unicellular: One cell. Multicellular: More than one cell.

Structure and Function Morphology: Structure of an organism or any of it’s parts. Anatomy: The study of the internal and external morphology.

Energy Relationships Autotrophs: Obtain energy by making food. Ex. Green plants Heterotrophs: Get energy by eating other organisms.

Ecology Ecology refers to how organisms interact with each other and the environment.

Science and Society The development of various vaccines has resulted in the control and elimination of various diseases.
