Authentic Followers of Christ He Has Done Everything Well Salt and Light Mark 8:11-21 He Has Done Everything Well

The Pharisee’s saw the miracles – they just couldn’t see the Messiah who performed them. MK 8:11-13 The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test him, they asked him for a sign from heaven. He sighed deeply and said, "Why does this generation ask for a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, no sign will be given to it."

The Disciples were also looking ......but not seeing MK 8:14-16 The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat. "Be careful," Jesus warned them. Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod." They discussed this with one another and said, "It is because we have no bread."

The Pharisee’s demanded too much the Disciples perhaps too little.

Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: "Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don't you remember?

but Jesus wanted both to simply believe. The Pharisee’s demanded a miracle the Disciples could only think of food but Jesus wanted both to simply believe.

The Past is the secret to Living in the Present Believing in the Future

Jesus said to the disciples – all your present stress is because you chose not to remember what I did in the past.

Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: "Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don't you remember?

Mk 8 :19-20 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?" "Twelve," they replied. "And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up? "They answered, "Seven."

but our walk with God can also be a powerful reality Our walk with God is not divorced from times of struggle and pain – life can be cruel but our walk with God can also be a powerful reality of the faithfulness of God.

Are we looking for the answers but not seeing maybe we need to look back and remind ourselves of God’s ongoing faithfulness
