What is “troubleshooting”? A form of problem solving It is a logical, systematic process to find the source of a problem in order to solve it *In our class, they are the steps you will take in the event that you run into a technical issue with the computers*

Situation #1 You are attempting to use Google Chrome to access the internet and you get the error “The Site Cannot Be Reached” What should you do?

Solution: Refresh the page by clicking the refresh button  “X” out of Chrome and try to reopen it Try using another browser  “Microsoft Edge” If that doesn’t work, well… then we’re having some serious technical issues that day

Situation #2 You are trying to load a website but it is taking a long time to load What do you do?

What should you NOT do? Keep clicking, and clicking, and clicking away Bang the mouse, keyboard or computer screen Whine… at least at first

Solution: Have some patience, give it a minute or so Stop the page from loading and try refreshing it Click the back arrow and try loading the page again Copy and paste the “URL” and paste it into a new tab in a different browser if the first three things did not work for you

Situation #3 Your computer freezes Now what…

Solution: Have some patience and wait a minute or two Technology isn’t always perfect and things glitch from time to time “X” out of the program you are using and try to reboot it LAST RESORT… press the power button once and let the computer shut down. You have to restart it. Yes… this is an inconvenience but it happens unfortunately
