There are two main types of verbs in English: regular and irregular.

Let us see their main differences.

Regular verbs: if a verb is regular, the past simple and past participle end in -ed. For example:

clean: cleaned. finish: finished use: used paint: painted stop: stopped carry: carried

Irregular verbs: if a verb is irregular the past simple and past participle do not end in -ed. For example:

be: was/ were- been hit: hit- hit tell: told- told wake: woke- woken say: said- said

To sum up:

REGULAR AND IRREGULAR VERBS n Regular verbs: past and participle end in -ed. n Example: finished. n Irregular verbs: past and participle do not end in -ed. n Example: bought.
