December 2 – All the Pretty Horses Agenda: Think and Ink Applying the Monomyth Poetry Analysis Homework: Read Part III – pp 153-217 for FRIDAY Next three journals Take out: Pen/Pencil Notebook Monomyth worksheet (from last class) APH

Think and Ink Answer the following questions in about one paragraph Use the book/your journal, and refer to specific evidence Why does JG set out to break all of the horses? Why is it important to him? How does this develop his character?

Applying the Monomyth We are going to apply the idea of the monomyth to our reading of All the Pretty Horses. You will complete the chart on the worksheet as we continue our reading of the novel. This will be a basis for a final project that you will complete after our reading is finished. Work with your table partner to begin the worksheet – you will not be able to complete the entire thing today – using evidence from the reading Don’t forget to include quotes and/or paraphrase and (of course) page numbers

Title Analysis We will do a modified TPS-FASTT, beginning with an analysis of the TITLE: “All the Pretty Little Horses”
