Local Communities and Social Innovation for the Energy Transition Workshop Ispra, Lago Maggiore, 22-23 November 2018

Objectives to study local communities’ social innovation potential for the energy transition under both theoretical and practical lenses to formulate policy and research recommendations allowing to stimulate the expression of this potential (providing practical and concrete research and policy indications and collecting suggestions and proposal concerning how the JRC can contribute to support the social innovation initiatives we are studying. Exploratory Research aims to enable the JRC scientific and technical staff to pursue ambitious research projects and activities, without the requirement to address specific policy requests. Exploratory research is a systematic scientific approach which verifies whether an idea is worthwhile studying or not. It does not aim to provide a final and conclusive answer to a certain scientific question, but rather aims at exploring a research topic with varying levels of depth.

Panels Panel 1: Local Communities' Social Innovation Potential. Panel 2: Governance and Local Communities’ Social Innovation. Panel 3: Local Energy Communities and Complex Renewable Energy Networks of the Future. Panel 4: Policies Supporting Local Energy Communities’ Social Innovation. Panel 5: Some Main Existing Experiences in the European Union.
