Evidence for Evolving Species

* Homologous Structures – Similar body structures that connect different species to a common ancestor.

Similarities in Early Development – During early development all vertebrates have tails and rows of tiny slits in their throats.

Fossil Record – Using fossils, law of superposition, and fossil dates we can see how life has changed over time.

Vestigial Structures – Parts of organisms anatomy that serve no function today, but could do something in the past. Examples: Whale legs and pelvic bones. Tail bones in humans
