Hebrews 4:11-13

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 NKJV[6] But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. [7] So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. [8] And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

The Sword of the Spirit Ephesians 6:17 Ephesians 6:17 NKJV[17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

The Sword of the Spirit What is the Sword of the Spirit? THE WORD OF GOD! What is it that the Holy Spirit uses today, in order to defend ourselves from the attacks of Satan? He uses only one weapon; one that you and I should know how to use by now! Let’s look at some of the descriptions that we find in the Bible, regarding the Holy Spirit, and the help that He gives us, in order to carry on in our Christian lives.

The Sword is a weapon. The Sword of the Spirit It defends us against enemy attacks. We shall never ignore that we have an enemy; this enemy seeks to destroy us every day. 1 Peter 5:8 To assault the enemy’s strongholds. 2 Cor 10:4 We need to be trained on how to use it both offensively, and defensively. Hebrews 5:11. We must keep it easily accessible to be ready. 2 Tim 4:2. Hosea the prophet says in 4:6, that now days, many people are destroyed for using this Sword incorrectly.

Keep Your Sword in Good Condition. 🗡 The Sword of the Spirit Keep Your Sword in Good Condition. 🗡 By using it. (Acts 2:37; Matt 3:7; Acts 7:51-57). Take it out of it’s sheath. Don’t allow things to build up on it. Never let the enemy twist the sword 🗡 Don’t abuse it. Don’t misuse it. Apply it. Make sure it is secure. Nehemiah 4:17-18. Make sure it is ready to be used. Joshua 5:13 Don’t be caught off guard!

Familiarize Yourself with Your Sword The Sword of the Spirit Familiarize Yourself with Your Sword Study it (2 Tim.2.15) We cannot use or handle something that we are not familiar with. Hosea 4:6; 2 Peter 3:16 We can even hurt our own selves by using this weapon in the wrong way. 2 Tim 2:17-18. Realize it is alive and powerful (Hebrews 4:12) It is two-edged. Regardless of how you swing it, it cuts. But be careful, if you do not how to use it, it can cut you very bad. James 3:1

Understand the Spiritual Nature of Your Sword The Sword of the Spirit Understand the Spiritual Nature of Your Sword It is the sword the Holy Spirit will use in and through your life. It has power and… It convicts of sin (Jn.16.7; Acts 2.37). It regenerates (1 Pet.1.23; Jas.1.18). It illuminates (Ps.119.130). It activates faith (Rom.10.17). It can prevent sin (Ps.119.11). It can cleanse us (Ps.119.9; Jn.15.3).

Now that we have the Sword of Holy Spirit with us, we are not alone. We can face Satan. We can face the world. We can face the Lord’s enemies. We can face all troubles in life. We can face all uncertainties that we face. We can face, even death. Full assurance has been given to us by the wonderful power of God’s Sword. The question this evening is: DO YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IT?!
