Areas of Responsibility

Memorandum of Understanding / Security Requirements The firewall in the LAT Mobile Computing Rack must be accredited by NRL networking in order to connect to the NRL switch in building A59. The firewall is the only device in the LAT data path that will need to be accredited. The accreditation process will require a signed Memo of Understanding (MOU) between NASA/GSFC, SLAC/Project management, NRL sponsor (Code 7650) and NRL Network Security. The MOU will be stating that LAT would conform to NRL Computer Security requirements for a VPN service. Draft has been completed. Needs input from SLAC on organization and system administration responsibilities. Accreditation process can not start until MoU has been signed. Daryl Yentis will complete Accreditation paperwork. NRL thinks LAT Proj Mgr signature is all that is required from SLAC. Are there issues at SLAC? Final accreditation would not occur until the LAT Mobile Test Rack is physically at NRL. The office network in building 209 will be handled as guest computers and will have to conform to those rules. Guest access is via the NRL Beta Wireless network. Each computer must have a special software package installed Guest privileges have to be applied for on a machine by machine basis

Draft of Networking MoU 1 Sept 2005 Networking Schedule Draft of Networking MoU 1 Sept 2005 Final MoU for Signatures 3 Oct 2005 Delivery of Firewall and test hardware to NRL 15 Nov 2005 Firewall Preliminary Accreditation Complete 1 Dec 2005 Network Setup Trial Testing 6 – 23 Dec 2005 Ready for Use 2 Jan 2006

Issues / Questions from May ’05 TIM The details still need to be worked out to move the data files to transmit the LAT temperature telemetry from the LAT mobile computing rack to the NRL thermal monitoring computer. Still pending, no big deal Who will need to sign the MOU with NRL to allow that firewall in the LAT Mobile Computing Rack to be accredited by the NRL network? Resolved, technically. NRL wants NASA GSFC, the sponsor, to sign the MOU. SLAC signature does not have the weight of a contractual arrangement with NRL. (NRL’s contract for GLAST is with GSFC.)
