Emerging areas – Measuring extreme events What could be the role of official statisticians? Expert Forum for producers and users of climate change-related statistics 2-3 September 2015

Questions Which are current and emerging requirements for statistical information related to measuring extreme events and disasters, who sets those requirements, and how, and what is the role of NSOs in this? What role do NSOs play or envision to play in tracking and reporting losses and damages? What linkages can be explored between the statistical office and data collecting bodies, such as National civil protection, and National meteorological and hydrological services?
