Pedagogic Research Community support university learning, teaching and research strategies and plans establish interest groups as cultivation of the university's pedagogic research community support early career researchers with their writing run seminars, including visiting speakers contribute to learning and teaching conference encourage external networking support faculty learning and teaching research groups participate in pedagogic research writing retreats to support the development of publications
Monthly Meetings Once per month during the academic year since early 2016 Cambridge and Chelmsford campuses Over 40 interested scholars, including academic staff and Professional Service departments Experienced researchers mentor and support more than ten early career researchers Robust discussions about shared experience highlighting the similarities of the research process regardless of discipline 2018/19 plans to refresh monthly meetings around the Life Cycle of a Pedagogic Research Project
Writing Retreat
Writing Retreat One per semester, off campus Loosely structured, including short, targeted exercises and scheduled breaks Words written ranged from 390 to 4,602 with a mean of 2,187 Total number of words written during the day was 43,741 New writing habits: regular scheduling of writing time, planning the writing, taking breaks, and free writing ‘I felt guilty about checking e-mail while I normally feel the opposite’ Early stage and Established writers
Learning and Teaching Projects Up to £3,500 Average 17 applications per year Projects run over one academic year Present findings at annual Learning and Teaching Conference in June Case Study for the Good Teaching Exchange Encouraged to publish externally, supported by PedRes
