Working Outline Roman numerals stand for what each paragraph is about Letters are the details for the Roman numerals I. Growing up A. Hardships B. Relationships This outline is a guide of what you are planning to look for when taking notes.

Sources Have to have 5-7 sources including the following: Books Reference Encyclopedia (not regular Encyclopedia- ask librarian for help) Online Resources (must have copywrite information. Best sources will be .org, .edu, and .gov.)

Notes Make notes based on your outline Follow MLA style for correct format or points will be deducted Keyword Author’s last name, pg# Start writing note here. The keyword should tell you what this note is about.

Bibliography Find what type of source you have (book, how many authors, editor, internet resource, etc.) Use Owl Purdue Website MLA format!! The bibliography is reverse indented. That means that you indent all the lines except the first one.

Revised Outline Follow Roman numeral/alpha guideline This time, fill in generic information with information based on the notes you took. Grew up in a single parent home A. Struggled with childhood diseases B. Was beaten by father

Rough Draft and Final Copy Rough Draft will be hand written (anywhere from 5-7 pages) Final Copy will be typed in the computer lab and saved to your H drive (will end up 4-6 pages) 1500 words Final copy will be typed in 12 pt font in New Times Roman and double spaced.

Research Purpose After choosing your subject, you will have to decide what you are going to PROVE. This means that you have to write a thesis statement that will be the first sentence of your first paragraph. This thesis will have to prove something based on what you find. (Ex: that someone’s work was influenced by a hard childhood, that a certain type of music influenced other artists or types of music, or that a war had a certain kind of impact on the society.

Last but not least… If you need help, ASK!
