Giving Luke 12.16-21

Jesus showed us that giving was a good investment. Matthew 6.19-21 Three things destroy possessions: Moth, Rust, Thieves. Things in this life fade! Happiness is found in Christian giving because it endures eternally. The only way to have treasure in heaven is to send it ahead now.

Jesus showed us that giving was a good investment. Luke 6.38 God’s law on giving and receiving: “You never get anything worth-while for nothing.” The reverse is also true: “You never give anything without receiving something back.” We limit ourselves and God when we are grudging in our giving.

“This verse made me a million dollars.” - A.M. Burton “Blessed is he who considers the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed upon the earth” (Psalm 41.1-2).

Jesus Cared About Our Giving 1 of 6 verses in the Gospels concerns our possessions. 19 of 38 parables deal with material possessions. Gospels contain 16 times more about stewardship than baptism. 32 times more about stewardship than the Lord’s Supper. Christian Stewardship by Paul Tucker

Jesus Cared About Our Giving “…The cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he become unfruitful” (Matthew 13.22). “For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?” (Matthew 16.26). “You fool, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared, whose will they be? So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God” (Luke 12.20-21).
