Intro to Springboard Pick up a book from the box Write your name on the front of your book as well as on the inside. Springboard is created by College Board, and it is a pre-AP text. You can put your text in your 3-ring binder

Unit One: The American Dream

Unit One: The American Dream Pg. 1: Unit Overview. Any Questions? Pg. 2: Goals Pg. 4: Read and mark the text Work with your seat partner to answer these two essential questions.

Embedded assessment 1: Writing a definition essay Page 51 Let’s unpack what you need to know/do for this weighted assignment. Go through both the assignment and the rubric.

Embedded Assessment #1 page 4 and pages 51-52 Your assignment is to write a multi- paragraph essay that defines your interpretation of what it means to be an American. This essay should use the strategies of definition and different perspectives from the unit help you develop a complex and thoughtful definition. If possible, incorporate an iconic image into your essay. Identify the key nouns and verbs in EA1 and the Exemplary column of the rubric. After having students generate a list of key skills necessary for success, discuss as a group and come up with the unpacked assessment.
