Enlightenment Rights Assignment The Enlightenment changed the world forever, one of the biggest changes was the creation of rights for all citizens. On your desks are two copies of three very important documents. The Magna Carta of 1215, The English Bill of Rights of 1689, and the United States Bill of Rights of 1791. Over the next few days in class, we will be comparing these documents for similarities between the rights.

Step one, creating the foldable Each of you will receive one piece of unlined paper, you will fold it three times as demonstrated. (Pause for demonstration). The front you will leave blank for now, you will create a colorful cover for it later. One the first tab on the left, you will label it Magna Carta 1215. In the middle it will be labeled English Bill of Rights 1689, and on the right it will be labeled, U.S. Bill of Rights 1791.

Step Two: The Assignment In pairs, you will go through the three documents, and find three sets of laws that are similar. You will right each law in the appropriate section of your foldable. On the back page of your foldable, you will right a brief explanation as to how these laws are similar.

Example: Magna Carta 1215 English Bill of Rights 1689 U.S. Bill of Rights 1791 1. 2. 3.

Example of the Comparison Sentence frame for comparison: These three laws are all similar because _____________________________________. For full credit you MUST provide specific examples.

Step Three: Colorful Cover The final step will be to create a creative title for the foldable. Then you will create a colorful cover, that means make it look nice, with AT LEAST three different colors. For full credit the cover MUST be completed.

Rubric for Grading: Your grade will be comprised of the following: 1. Proper set up of foldable, three columns, correctly titled, explanation on the back. 2. Accuracy of comparisons, your laws must be similar, meaning your explanation MUST prove they ARE similar, if not you will lose points. 3. Cover, your cover must have a title, with AT LEAST three colors. This assignment goes in the projects category worth 25.
