Research-Based Literary Criticism Essay The Intro

Think of your intro…. …like a country drive. You are taking your reader for a pleasant ride prior to reaching your specific destination.

Remember… …the upside down triangle method:

Your intro needs: 1. an attention grabber/hook 2. a lead-in 3. a thesis Read the three sample intros provided. Label the 3 parts identified above in each sample intro.

So, where do I start? Write your thesis. Then write your hook and lead.

Today… 1. Write your thesis. 2. Get a peer and/or me to give you feedback on your thesis. 3. Submit your working thesis to me either today at the end of the period or tomorrow at the beginning of the period. This is 20 points!! 4. Make sure you have a copy of the thesis for yourself as well. This will make your library session tomorrow much more productive.
