Strand: Clothing and Textile (FACS 1) Date Bellringer Lesson FACS 1 Special Notes Monday Define bobbin and explain its purpose in the sewing machine. 1. TTW discuss safety rules for sewing 2. TLW view a sewing demonstration video Power Points Handout Tuesday Identify the item below and explain its function in sewing. 1. TTW present equipment notes. 2. Mystery box items Sewing Supplies Fabric wednesday *Roar* TLW then come to the board to identify the correct picture of the word on a poster 3. TLW play a mystery box identification to id and describe the various piece of equipment Mystery box thursday How do you properly pin fabric. Explain the steps TTW demonstrate how to properly pin fabric, tlw practice pinning Pins Sewing notions friday Describe how you properly pin fabric. 1. TTW pass out supplies for hand stitching and assign students a baggie with materials and discuss the hand stitching project 2. TTW demonstrate how to properly thread a needle for hand stitching 3. Assess effects of textile characteristics on design, construction, care, use and maintenance of products 5. Select appropriate procedures for care of textile products. Standard 3. Demonstrate basic constructions techniques used to produce, alter, or repair textile products. 1. Use a variety of equipment, tools, and supplies for apparel and textile construction 2. Demonstrate the ability to use sewing equipment 3. Demonstrate basic skills for production and altering textile products
