Presentation transcript:

Waiheke High School Uniform Getting it right Waiheke High School has a proud tradition and we expect students to take pride in wearing their uniform. There have been a number of students who have been compromising these standards and we seek your assistance in getting things right. One of the great things about Waiheke High School is that we recognise differences in performance and achievement, and not differences in personal dress standards. If your child is unsure of our accepted dress code, please refer them to Mr Sears, Mr Knighton or the Deans. We are a uniform school with very reasonable expectations; we seek your co-operation and support. We have a great deal of pride in our achievements and want that reflected in how our students wear their uniform and the pride they have in Waiheke High School. Getting it Right The uniform code applies to students who are : Attending school Travelling to or from school Attending school functions Representing the school Identifiable as Waiheke High School students in a public place. As a guideline, we expect the degree of formality that would be acceptable in a professional workplace environment. Earrings are to be studs or small sleepers (plugs not acceptable). Wristwatch and a taonga can be worn by students where this is culturally appropriate. Hair must be clean and well groomed. Make up (including nail polish) should be subtle and not noticeable. Shoes must be predominantly black and socks can be black or white. Black sports shoes with some colour and sports socks are appropriate. Stockings/Tights black only. Uniform and shoes must be clean and tidy. The PE shirt or a plain white t-shirt may be worn underneath the school shirt, in this case the sleeves and the lower portion of the garment must not be visible. All except the top button should be fastened on school shirts. Skirts and shorts are to be an appropriate length – no shorter than three to five centimetres above the knee. Plain dark blue hats (not shown) may be worn for sun protection and not in class.
