World Mental Health Day 2018

10 % of children and young adults aged 5-16 have a mental health issue That is the same as 5 pupils in our school, 1 in every other class

50% of mental health issues are there from age 14

Suicide is the most common cause of death for people aged 5-19

Only 25% of young people with a mental health issue get the help they need

Signs to look for… Changes in appetite Alcohol/ drug misuse Sleep problems Silent or withdrawn Unable to concentrate Memory loss Tearful Poor attendance Disruptive Overworking Lack of hygiene

How can we HELP ourselves? Nurture your physical health Have fun – do something you enjoy Talk to someone Avoid having too much caffeine Don’t overwork – rest as well! Nobody is perfect – accept who you are! Reduce screen time
