13-2 Surface Area of Prisms Workbook Please

Learn to find the surface area of prisms and cylinders.

If you remove the surface from a three- dimensional figure and lay it out flat, the pattern you make is called a net. Nets allow you to see all the surfaces of a solid at one time. You can use nets to help you find the surface area of a three-dimensional figure. Surface area is the sum of the areas of all of the surfaces of a figure expressed in square units.

Workbook pg 306 (l)(w) l h (l)(h) (l)(h) (w)(h) (w)(h) (l)(h) (w)(h)

6 in. 4 in. 12 in. 12 4. 12 6 4 6 96 144 48 288 288 in squared

Practice p. 308

Work out with your partner 2 (180) + (2)216 +(2) 120 2 (50) + (2)20 + (2) 10 360 + 432 + 240 = 1032 cm2 squared 100 + 40 + 20 = 160 in 2

#5 Another way 7 5 7 8 3 8 Area = 7 x 5 Area = 35 How many are there? Sur Area = 70 + 56 + 24 = Area = ½ (8 x 3) Area = 12 Sur Area = 150 ft 2 3 How many are there? 2!! 2 x 12 = 24 8
