Presentation transcript:

What is a virtual fieldtrip? A virtual fieldtrip is an Internet-based trip that students can take individually, in small groups or as a whole class. A virtual fieldtrip helps students synthesize what they have learned during a class fieldtrip or prepare for upcoming trips. They also give information about areas that students were unable to visit during class.

Why should we use it? Virtual fieldtrips allow students to travel without paying a cent. They are able to see parts of the world (and universe and time periods) and that they otherwise would never have been able to experience. You can easily bring in examples that relate to your lessons, whether it is someplace you have never been or someplace that you have visited and think your students will benefit from exploring.

Cool Examples www.seds.org/nineplanets/nineplanets/ Allows students to travel to the planets because unfortunately, this is one place that they will not be able to take an actual field trip too. www.field-guides.com/trips.htm Allows you to pick a topic and a grade level and includes national standards. Even has a virtual fieldtrip permission slip! www.theteachersguide.com/virtualtours.html#Museums Has loads of museums that you can visit while sitting in front of your computer.
