Jolly Phonics Story outline Song Action Letter formation Jolly Phonics is the phonics resource we use- reading and phonics will make up the bulk of homework especially in the first term.

Chn explore writing and letter formation in a variety of ways – not always jotter. Spend time on correct formation as bad habits difficult to change. Sounds are taught in particular order to support children in putting sounds together to make words – s-a-t Children at emergent writing stage – you see scribbles, they can often tell you what it says – this is an important stage of writing. Please value. As I play and learn I enjoy exploring interesting materials for writing and different ways of recording my experiences, feelings, ideas and information. LIT 0-21b

Initially for most – teacher scribes – chn overwrite- chn write underneath and then independent – some thro all these stages, some not.

Numeracy and Maths in lots of different and engaging ways – including use of outdoors and ICT. CLIC Chn make use of whole school – library, gym hall, assembly hall, computer suite and outdoors. Music specialist /P.E. specialist – not every term. Fantastic Friday – P1’s mix classes. Chn from DPS nursery – participating in Forest schools – intention is to continue into P1 as outdoor learning is a priority in our SIP next session. I have explored numbers, understanding that they represent quantities, and I can use them to count, create sequences and describe order. MNU0-02a

Lunchtime! School lunches/packed lunches. Through transition chn have experienced with their buddy. Menus- please speak about choices. Rubbish from packed lunched not in bin. School lunches – free P1-3.

School values – from nursery through to P7, children are taught about the school values and the expected behaviours. Positive behaviour systems in classes are linked to the values and these are visible in each classroom. At monthly achievement assemblies- class ambassadors and the ambassador class are identified. When we talk to our children about behaviour – both positive and negative we link it to school values. I make decisions and take responsibility in my everyday experiences and play, showing consideration for others. SOC 0-17a

Pupils MUST be collected by an adult. First week at school School starts on Tuesday the 22nd of August Pupils can come to school between 9 – 10AM for the first 2 days (Tue & Wed). They will enter at the lines through the lion door. By Thursday and Friday pupils will line up at the 9AM bell. On the Tuesday only Primary 1 pupils will finish at 3.05PM From Wednesday pupils will finish at 3.15PM. Pupils MUST be collected by an adult.
