Los pronombres de objeto directo Direct Object Pronouns

El complemento Directo The direct object is a noun (or nouns) that receives the action of the verb or shows the result of the action. Hence a direct object answers the question: Whom? or What? After a verb of action.

El complemento directo DIRECT OBJECT Noun Pronoun

El complemento directo The direct object noun receives the action of the verb Ex. I clean the kitchen. The noun kitchen receives the action of the verb because that is what is being cleaned. Remember just ask yourself: What is being cleaned? The kitchen

El complemento directo The direct object noun receives the action of the verb Ex. I take care of the baby. The noun baby receives the action of the verb because that is whom is being taken care of. Remember just ask yourself: Whom is being taken care of? The baby

el pronombre de objeto directo The Direct Object Pronoun takes the place of a direct object noun. We use pronouns to avoid having to repeat a noun. Ex. I clean the kitchen. ⇒ I clean it. Ex. I take care of the baby. ⇒ I take care of him.

los pronombres de objeto directo Singular Plural 1st person 2nd 3rd me (me) nos (us) te (you) os (you all) lo (it/him/you form.) la (it/her/you form.) los (them, you all) las (them, you all)

los pronombres de objeto directo In Spanish, one must place the direct object pronoun in front of the conjugated verb. Ej. (Yo) Limpio la cocina. o (Yo) La limpio.

los pronombres de objeto directo However, if there are 2 verbs in the sentence you have a second option: → You can choose to attach the direct object pronoun to the infinitive verb: Ej. (Yo) Voy a limpiarla. o Ej. (Yo) La voy a limpiar.

Conclusion So remember: Use direct object pronouns to refer to someone or something already mentioned to avoid repetition. 1st person (singular & plural) and 2nd person (singular & plural) only refer to people. 3rd person direct object pronouns can refer to people or things and agree in gender and number with the noun being replaced.
