Community Engagement Reporting For assistance, contact: Lindsey Walk, Lwalk@uwf.edu

Why Do We Report? In 2015, UWF was selected to receive the prestigious elective Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, an honor designated to 361 institutions nationwide by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in recognition of our successful institutional focus on community engagement. UWF will reapply for the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification in 2025 using data collected since the last application.

Community Engagement Reporting Format As of 2019, we have a new reporting format using Google Sheets. There are examples provided for each category of community engagement.

Where to Find Your Department’s Report Visit the Institutional Effectiveness Website to View and Update Your Department's Report

Be sure to select your department’s folder under the 2018-2019 reporting year.

What to Report UWF has formally adopted five categories of Community Engagement: Curricular Engagement- Refers to all credit-earning service learning or community-based learning including field studies, internships, clinical work, and practicum. Community Partnerships- Refers to community partnerships that are mutually beneficial in nature to both the University and the community partner. Institutional Commitment & Enrichment Initiatives- Refers to the institutes, centers, programs, and initiatives that demonstrate UWF’s considerable commitment as a regional comprehensive university to enhancing the quality of life in Northwest Florida (omit items already included in other categories). Service & Citizenship- Refers to List (professional and/or community) volunteer activities by faculty, staff, and students not captured in the above categories including board service or organizational leadership and any service activities customarily included on a CV or resume. Student Accomplishments- Refers to activities related to Community Engagement by students in your department not captured in any other categories.

Report Instructions Please review the instruction sheet on the first tab of your department’s report. The following is recommended to ensure all data is captured: Recommendation for Data Collection: Please complete all five tabs. If you do not have data for a tab, please enter N/A in the first row under the example(s). The reporting year runs from Summer 2018 through Spring 2019. It is recommended the report submitter send this spreadsheet to all faculty and staff within the department/unit and request for them to enter their individual data related to each section. Then, compile the individual data and submit one report per department/unit.
