Do you think this is a good advert? Heading Media Studies 2 Question: Do you think this is a good advert? What is it for? Who is it aimed at?

Last time People are easily influenced. People want what they see. Adverts target types of people. I also asked you to list some adverts you liked.

This time To examine colours, heading and logos. To see how adverts convey information.

Presentational devices we shall be examining: Pictures Colours Headings, Subheadings – LANGUAGE being used! Logos Captions, (explanations)

What do colours mean? Red – important Blue – relaxing Pink – love Green – nature Yellow – happiness Black and grey – sadness, sorrow but also power.

Headings Language is very important in adverts for two reasons: It lets us know what the product is. It encourages us to buy the product. There are two places for words in adverts.

Heading: Name of the product. Big and bold Subheading: The slogan. Smaller

Headings The name of a product should appeal to the audience. Ask yourself: Is that a strong, cool, or cute name? The slogan should speak directly to the target audience.

Most importantly - Logos

Logos In Ancient Greek, logos means ‘opinion’ or ‘expectation’. Every company has one and now you are about to get one too.
