Real World PM Interactive Exercise PMI “Best Practices”

How does your organization conduct project “lessons learned”? TOPIC #1 How does your organization conduct project “lessons learned”?

Topic #1 – Lessons Learned Lessons learned from other projects and earlier phases of the same project should be used in planning each project Lessons learned should include variances and resulting change control and corrective actions for each applicable knowledge area Doesn’t address archiving, reviewing and taking actions based on lessons learned

How does your organization perform “scope change control”? TOPIC #2 How does your organization perform “scope change control”?

Topic #2 – Scope Change Control Change control requires a scope baseline (e.g., WBS, schedule and budget) that is changed, when required based on performance measurement feedback, using procedures defined by a scope change control system. Scope change information is provided to the stakeholders and fed back through the planning process and included in the project documentation.

TOPIC #3 How does your organization document and disseminate “project schedule” information?

Topic #3 – Project Schedule Information There are many acceptable tools and techniques to accomplish activity definition, sequencing, duration estimating, schedule development and schedule control. The keys are to make sure the work to be done is accurately described and understood by all participants
