Early disclosure to the Working Group of patent information that might be relevant to the standard is essential to reduce the possibility for delays in the development process and increase the likelihood that the draft publication will be approved for publication. Please notify the Chair Wendong Hu as early as possible, in written or electronic form, if patented technology (or technology under patent application) might be incorporated into a draft standard being developed within the IEEE 802.22 Working Group. Discussion on PAR Title Scope Purpose Need for the project Part 22: Cognitive Wireless RAN Medium Access Control (MAC) and Physical Layer (PHY) specifications: Policies and procedures for operation in the TV Bands- Amendment: Broadband Service Extension Scope This standard specifies PHY and MAC amendments to IEEE std. 802.22-2011 with the objective of broadband service extension to support data rates up to 180 Mbps. This standard also enhances consumer premise equipments (CPEs) to better fit different applications and enables communications among CPEs. Purpose This document will not have a purpose clause. Need for the project There are various broadband applications in the context of regional area network where communications can be better served by CPEs with capabilities appropriate for the applications. In addition, extending regional area broadband services to real-time monitoring applications, emergency broadband services, remote medical services etc requires higher data rate. Communications among CPEs become vital for some of those applications.

Discussion on PAR and 5C How does the group feel about the title? Current scope contains three points, sufficient? PHY and MAC amendment or Alternate PHY with necessary MAC amendments or both? Distinct feature in 5C Combined broadband services and monitoring applications for WRAN
