Objectives Students will be able to . . . Identify the tone and point of view of “Indian Camp” by annotating the text Compare / contrast the tone and point of view in “On the Quai at Smyrna” and “Indian Camp” Identify symbols within the text and analyze them by explaining their purpose in the text

Written Response: Revision 1. In Our Time, a collection of short stories by Ernest Hemingway is considered a modernist text. Identify and provide at least two examples explaining how “On the Quai at Smyrna” is an example of a modernist vignette. Be sure to develop a clear claim that answers the prompt. Be sure to cite the text appropriately. Be sure to explain how your evidence proves your claim.
