Welcome to Social Studies 8 Worldview Introduction to SS 8

Agenda for the Day How does online social studies work? Current events What is worldview? What is the Canadian worldview? The Middle Ages – What Was Life Like? How did the Renaissance start?

How does Social Studies 8 Online Work??? Combination of: Lessons - assignments Tutorials Current Events Discussion Board Quizzes and Exams

Hours for Success In order to be successful, you MUST work on your social studies lessons for at least 60 minutes per day and at times, you will need to put in some homework time. You will have ONE tutorial per week

Lessons - Assignments Lessons are posted one lesson/unit at a time in D2L. Print them out one unit at a time (as drafts) – that way if ISP or server errors prevent you from reaching the website, you will still have access to your work. Most lessons contain assignments at the end – but a few are just “theory”. Read carefully. You may work ahead, but not in the other direction. Pay attention as to what form the assignment takes – whether you are to create your answers in, a Word document, a .wav file, or a Power Point slide show.

Current Events Journal Expectations.... Pay attention to what is going on in the world around you. How can you apply those current events to what we are learning about?
